Diagnose a PC (symptoms)
1. Did you notice any spontaneous uploads after you clicked on something? Did you open any odd emails or attachments?
2. Is your web browser redirecting to web sites you didn't enter or click on?
3. Is your computer excessively slow and difficult to operate?
4. Anti-Virus software won't start or run?
5. Did shortcuts appear on your desktop?
Many of these signs can mean you have malware operating on your system. They can also mean other things like not enough memory, too many programs running, etc, but in most cases they are signs of some problem with the computer.
Sometimes running a free Adware program can clean up these problems, sometimes not...
Next Step - Know your Computer
- Use Microsoft's System Information Tool
Click the "Start" button and Select "Run"
Type "msinfo32.exe" and click OK.
Once the System Information tool starts, identify the following:
- OS type
- amount of physical memory
- processor speed
- disk space
